Top 3 Packing Hacks for Stress-Free Travel

I will say it, it is not my strong point to pack. I am the type of a traveler who once packed half of a wardrobe into a suitcase just in case only to find out that I did not use half of it.

Throughout the years, a number of insane airport rushes and one bad overweight bag fee later, I have learned that it is not about packing more but packing better. The following are the three packing tips, which have indeed transformed the way I travel.

Note: The best tip that I can give for stress-free travel is to book long stay parking Heathrow and start your journey without any worries.

Roll, Don't Fold

The day when I rolled my clothes in place of folding them, it seemed to me that I had uncovered a secret formula. Then all was in place, and I was able to see what I had packed, not having to dig to the bottom. Not only does rolling save on space, it does not allow clothes to get too wrinkled.

During my last winter trip, I was able to squeeze two sweaters, jeans, and even a bulky jacket into one side of a carry-on and I would not have believed it myself a few years ago.

Pack by Outfit, Not by Item

This one was a game-changer. I did not just throw in some shirts and pants anymore but I did plan my outfits. Every piece was meant to be used and it could be combined and recombined.

It removed the burden of being in a hotel room and wondering what in the world matches up with this. To go on a beach holiday, I brought three tops and two pairs of shorts that I combined in all the combinations. And, suddenly, I had 5 simple outfits without having to overstuff my bag.

Use Packing Cubes

Initially, I assumed that packing cubes were another travelling gimmick. After which I sampled them, and I am unable to turn back.

There are not that many compartments to store clothes, toiletries and accessories, which makes everything well organized. No longer watching my suitcase being ripped up to search in it only to find socks.
